April and Darin | North Shore Engagement Photography

April and Darin are getting married this December in South Carolina and wanted to get some engagement photos done here in Pittsburgh. Being big sports fans, the easy choice was the North Shore near the stadiums. In addition to them being a totally adorable couple, April has a bit of a goofy side that she was quite willing to let loose during our session. Thanks for coming out on Friday morning before the rains hit!

Emily and Fred | Oakmont, PA Wedding

I loved getting to hang out with Emily and Fred again. I’m just posting a few teasers from their wedding right now since things are crazy these days, but I had to share the train track portraits! I adored Emily’s choice of a handful of long stem calla lilies as her bouquet–exceptionally elegant.

Meghan and Dave | Sewickley, PA

Dave used to live less than a mile from me, and yet we never seemed to get around to hanging out. He moved to Arizona, but he and his fiancĂ©e were still having their wedding here in the area, so the best way to actually see Dave before he left the state again for good was to come shoot some at their wedding! It was a delight to finally meet Meghan since I’d been hearing about her for years. Thanks for letting me come capture some of the fun moments at your wedding! I loved those shoes.

Emily and Eric | Highland Park and Mellon Institute Engagement

Flouting predictions of afternoon thunderstorms, Emily and Eric met up with me at Highland Park for what turned out to be a gorgeous afternoon. We had a ton of fun wandering the park and joking around, and we got some adorable photos. Emily has a promise ring and an engagement ring, so I had an occasion to photograph both hands for a change of pace. I love getting to know a couple better during the engagement session. It makes me look forward to shooting their wedding that much more!

Emily and Fred | Schenley Park and Strip District Engagement

Emily and Fred are getting married in October, and they’re having a Rat Pack theme to their ceremony! I’m pretty psyched about it since it’s a great chance to give their photos a more period feel. Usually my post processing style is very simple and pure, but I decided to play around a bit more with their engagement photos in anticipation of their wedding theme. Emily had her heart set on getting some photos on the Strip, and I was delighted to oblige.

Thanks for coming out on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon, and I can’t wait for October!

Jessi and Eric | Church of the Ascension and Marriott City Center Wedding

Jessi and Eric got married this past Saturday at the Church of the Ascension in Shadyside. The weather was beautiful, the church has fantastic little gardens inside, the entire day was simply lovely, but I think one of my favorite parts was also one of the smallest. In addition to “Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue,” Jessi had a tuppence for her shoe that was worn by both her grandmother and mother. I love personal touches like that.

Jessi and Eric | Highland Park Engagement

This past weekend, Jessi and Eric tied the knot. That’s the next post, though. First I want to share the engagement photos we got late last year. We managed to squeeze a session in despite the 3 week old baby I had at home! They were both so relaxed and easy going, it was a real pleasure to spend a brisk, beautiful autumn afternoon with them. I have no idea why they think they aren’t photogenic–I loved these photos.

Sandy and Chris | Station Square, Mellon Institute, and Schenley Park Engagement

Sandy and Chris were the winners of the free engagement session given away at the Cavanaugh Bride Show in January! After multiple attempts to schedule around the weather and Chris’s leave, Sandy and Chris drove in to have some photos taken before Chris is sent to Afghanistan this summer. We hit Station Square, then the columns at the Mellon Institute, and finished off at Schenley Park for a little greenery. I’m so glad we had this opportunity to capture some great moments of them together before Chris has to deploy for the next 9 months!

Thanks for coming out for a great session, guys! I couldn’t stop smiling while editing these.

A fresh start

New blog time! I’m pretty excited about it, actually. We just switched from MovableType to WordPress, and in the upcoming weeks I’ll be sharing some photos from this Spring’s weddings and portraits as well as some highlights from the past year. I’m really looking forward to getting into wedding season this year since photography was on hold for a few months while we started adjusting to life with a baby. I think we’ve got a few more months before we have to start adjusting to life with a toddler.

Thanks for stopping by, and please enjoy the photos!
